The high Agulles traverse

A separate Catalan massif

Scrambling

The high Agulles traverse threads narrow gaps between towers and includes passages requiring hands. Small cols and unexpected views of neighbouring walls give it its character. It should not be confused with the official walking circuit through Coll de Port: technical demands and route-finding are greater here. Some accounts describe rope-assisted steps, but an old GPS track cannot establish the present condition of that equipment. Choose this outing with experience on steep mountain paths and scrambling terrain. If uncertain, first explore the lower circuit or arrange the high route with a local professional.

Before your trip

  • Distinguish the high traverse, lower circuit and exits before loading a track.
  • Check restrictions and passage conditions with the park or a guide; old ropes offer no guarantee.
  • Choose dry rock, take a helmet and time margin, and turn back before exceeding your ability.
