Format

Beside the small village of Bóixols, water has cut a compact gorge with rock corridors, pools and several abseils. The format works well for discovering canyoning: obstacles follow one another without turning the day into a long-distance traverse. It still demands attention on the ropes and confidence around water. Guies Ama Dablam describes the jumps as optional, a useful point to discuss when booking a first experience. The canyon lies in Pallars Jussà near the Alt Urgell boundary; nearby Coll de Nargó is a helpful reference for planning the approach.

Río Vero: a full aquatic journey

Near Alquézar, the Vero reveals canyoning as a long journey through water, with limestone walls, shaded passages, boulders and sunlit pools continually changing the scene. The complete descent chiefly demands endurance, even where the individual moves are technically straightforward for a prepared guided group. Several hours of swimming, scrambling and water walking feel very different from a short abseiling canyon. Distinguish the full Vero from abbreviated outings in its lower section. Food, drinking water, your own transport and enough time for the return all need discussion before departure.

Llech: sporting canyoning on Canigou

On the slopes of Canigou, the Llech packs waterfalls, slides, jumps and abseils into an intense sequence. Inside the narrow gorge, the next obstacle soon brings attention back to the guide’s instructions. This is a sporting outing for fit participants who swim confidently. Save energy for the uphill return to the vehicles after the final pool. Extérieur Nature requires willingness to make a particular jump, so it would be misleading to promise that every obstacle is avoidable. Choose the Llech after an honest discussion of experience and personal limits.

Segudet: canyoning beside Ordino

Beside Ordino, the short Segudet gorge offers a compact introduction to canyoning in the Andorran mountains. As the descent begins, the path and open slope give way to the streambed, rock steps and working with the equipment. Its modest length leaves room for a valley walk afterwards, once the approach and briefing are included. Official tourism information calls the canyon easy but specifically warns about strong flow and storms at its head. Whether it suits a first experience therefore depends on the guide’s assessment of the actual water conditions.
