Llech: sporting canyoning on Canigou

CanyoningSources checked: 8 September 2026

Format

On the slopes of Canigou, the Llech packs waterfalls, slides, jumps and abseils into an intense sequence. Inside the narrow gorge, the next obstacle soon brings attention back to the guide’s instructions. This is a sporting outing for fit participants who swim confidently. Save energy for the uphill return to the vehicles after the final pool. Extérieur Nature requires willingness to make a particular jump, so it would be misleading to promise that every obstacle is avoidable. Choose the Llech after an honest discussion of experience and personal limits.

Experience

Good fitness, confident swimming and comfort with immersion; previous canyoning is recommended.

Before your trip

  • With Extérieur Nature, meet at Marquixanes before travelling to the canyon; other guides use different meeting points.
  • Before paying, discuss mandatory obstacles: Extérieur Nature requires willingness to jump around 4 m; check footwear and the uphill return effort.
  • Check Canigou weather, flow and access; an upstream storm matters even when the base is sunny.

Seasons are planning guidance. The local team confirms actual conditions, restrictions and whether the activity can run.
