Parc naturel régional Corbières-Fenouillèdes

Aude · Pyrénées-Orientales · OccitanieFoothills

Created in 2021, this regional park belongs to the northern foothills and Mediterranean edge of the Pyrenees. Limestone folds, narrow gorges, vineyards and rocky strongholds such as Puilaurens, Quéribus and Peyrepertuse define its scenery. For an easy visit, pair a short walk with a village; for a longer journey, choose sections of the Cathar Trail or cycling roads. Summer planning hinges on heat, wind and fire danger, which can change access to individual massifs.

Before you visit

Camping & bivouacs

Bivouac is tolerated subject to conditions, landowner permission and local orders. Restrictions apply near monuments, drinking-water sources and protected sites; confirm the location with the municipality. The PNR is not a general free-camping zone.

Fire & cooking

Do not light campfires or barbecues near woodland or garrigue. Departmental rules and current risk also apply. An allowed bivouac does not automatically permit a gas stove: check the local order for the chosen place and day.

Dogs

The park recommends a lead and a wide detour around herds. Dogs must not disturb wildlife or approach livestock. Check additional restrictions at individual natural sites.

Access & parking

Between June and September, check the daily Aude and Pyrénées-Orientales fire-risk maps before every outing. Prefectural orders may close individual massifs. Use designated parking, avoid dry grass and keep emergency access clear.

Activities & restrictions

The park offers walking and cycling routes, including sections of VéloSud. Choose appropriate MTB itineraries and check environmental or seasonal restrictions separately for canyoning, climbing and caves. Marked routes help respect private land and established access.
