Bungee and bridge jumps in the Pyrenees

Elastic-cord and pendulum jumps: compare the format and each local team’s conditions.

How to choose

Bridge jumps differ in both movement and sensation. Bungee uses an elastic cord; puenting usually describes a pendulum jump on ropes. The listings identify these separately: bridge height alone does not describe the experience.

  • Confirm the exact jump format rather than relying on its marketing name.
  • Check the organiser’s individual restrictions and required briefing.
  • Agree on the meeting point, timing and bad-weather rescheduling process.

Pont Napoléon bungee

The stone arch of Pont Napoléon spans the gave de Gavarnie beside Luz-Saint-Sauveur. The exposure begins before the jump, with a narrow river below and green valley slopes ahead. This entry covers genuine bungee jumping, using an elastic cord that stretches and rebounds. Equipment fitting and the instructor’s briefing are part of an intense experience that lasts much longer in the memory than in the air. Allow time for registration and the return afterwards. A pendulum jump is also advertised at this bridge, so choose the elastic product explicitly.

Arudy viaduct bungee

At Arudy, near the entrance to the Ossau valley, the jump takes place above the gave amid the green Béarn foothills. The viaduct offers a different scale from the towering bridges of the central Pyrenees: the river feels close and becomes the focus of the experience. This is genuine elastic-cord bungee. The operator also describes a water-touch option, which needs specific confirmation. It can fit into a journey from Pau towards the mountains. Registration, equipment fitting and the walk back to the bridge take longer than the jump itself.

Viaduct bungee; water contact depends on the selected option and operator approval.

Saldes bridge swing

The bridge at Saldes offers a pendulum flight in mountainous Berguedà, in the pre-Pyrenean landscape near Pedraforca. After leaving the edge, the rope system turns the fall into a sweeping arc beneath the bridge. This is puenting, or a bridge swing, whose defining sensation is the pendulum movement rather than a bungee cord’s rebound. Catalonia Adventures also advertises a paired option, so discuss the group beforehand. Comfortable clothing, suitable footwear and time for the briefing are needed. The activity can accompany a visit to Saldes without requiring a long mountain walk.
