Mountain biking and bike parks in the Pyrenees

Trails, enduro and lift-assisted downhill: riding areas and ways to choose your day.

How to choose

Pyrenean riding can mean a self-powered journey between villages or a day in a bike park. Climbing, terrain and technical features matter more than distance alone. Electric assistance helps uphill but does not replace handling skills on rocks and steep descents.

  • Distinguish self-powered routes from downhill riding that needs operating lifts.
  • Use the local grading and your skills rather than colours from another resort.
  • Check trail availability and suitable bike and protective-equipment rental.

Aínsa and Zona Zero

Around Aínsa, old paths connect stone villages, woodland and open slopes above Mediano reservoir. Zona Zero particularly suits riders who enjoy travelling through a lived-in landscape, earning their climbing and choosing combinations of descents. Its catalogue includes short woodland loops and substantial enduro days, so the destination name alone says little about difficulty. Stay several days to understand the terrain before expanding your range. Village stops and views towards the high Pyrenees become part of the experience, alongside the concentration and technique demanded by the trails.

Pal Arinsal Bike Park

Wooded descents above La Massana and open upper slopes make Pal Arinsal a rewarding place to spend a day developing riding technique. Lifts let you repeat a familiar line and progress without using all your energy on climbs. Distinguish learning areas, enduro trails and serious downhill tracks: sharing a destination with a World Cup course does not imply identical requirements. Choose a few suitable lines and learn them steadily. The mountain scenery deserves its own pauses, leaving your attention on the surface, movement and other riders during descents.

Loudenvielle and Peyragudes

In the Louron valley, descents link Peyragudes' high slopes with villages and the greenery around Loudenvielle. Skyvall helps you return uphill, while the network offers a choice between flowing lines and demanding sporting tracks. The appeal lies in changing scale, from open mountain terrain to woodland and the valley floor. A long green or blue trail is still a physical outing; fatigue builds on descents too. Begin with a shorter introduction, check traction and only then combine several sections into a larger riding day.

Les Angles Bike Park

Capcir woodland and views towards Lake Matemale frame very different riding experiences at Les Angles. Introductory downhill, more technical natural terrain and jump lines share the mountain. It works well for a group with different aims, allowing people to meet at the base without riding every trail together. Read each colour alongside its obstacle description: a blue trail with constructed features and a blue natural trail call for different habits. Use the first descents for reconnaissance and enjoy the scenery from a safe stopping place away from the riding line.
