What makes it special
Néouvielle is a strong choice for a day among lakes, granite slabs and mountain pines. The landscape does not depend on one dominant summit: water appears at different levels, and each turn changes its colour and backdrop. Begin around Aumar and Aubert, choosing a shorter lake walk according to weather and energy. For photography, time to explore different angles can be more rewarding than rushing towards the next name on the map. A longer combination with Orédon and the surrounding passes is another outing and deserves advance preparation.

Plan your day
Check access along the Route des Lacs and current parking or shuttle arrangements first. The suggested walking area is Aumar–Aubert. For the stated elevation gain, we use the short Aumar loop from Aubert car park: the source gives 1 hr 15 min walking in summer, excluding lower approaches and additional outings. Climbing Néouvielle itself is outside this lakeside outing.
