This is a public road shared with cars and coaches, an important consideration for the descent. Judge the outing by your ability to climb with energy remaining and control the bicycle downhill rather than distance alone. Nearby footpaths are not automatic extensions of the cycling route. Plan water, a stop at the monastery and somewhere to leave the bicycle without obstructing pedestrian access.
